Below are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions
How can my student send score reports for ACT or SAT to colleges they did not indicate at time of testing?
For SAT, your student must do this online through their College Board account.
For National ACT, your student must do this online through their ACT account.
For the State ACT, your student can call ACT to have this score linked to their ACT account and then they can follow instructions online.
There is a fee associated with sending the scores after the test administration - make sure to read the instructions on the websites carefully.
How do I know if my student has accommodations on State Testing?
A student must have an educational plan in order to receive accommodations on State Testing (EOC, NCFE, State ACT). Each type of plan is established by a team and the parent receives a copy. If your student has an IEP through the Exceptional Children's Program, the contact person is the EC Case Manager. If your student has a 504 plan, the contact person is their School Counselor. If your student has an LEP through the English Language Learner's Program, the contact person is the students ELL Case Manager.
Can my student have accommodations for State Testing only and not have to use them for Classroom Testing?
No. In order for a student to have accommodations for State Tests they must also have the same accommodations for all Classroom Tests and must have been utilizing those accommodations throughout the year. Teachers and Case Managers keep track of student use of accommodations for Classroom Tests throughout the year and give input at the yearly plan meeting. For State Tests, there is a form used by the Test Administrator to indicate students' use of accommodations and this form is available at the yearly plan meeting.
What materials should my student bring with them to a testing session?
They should bring #2 pencils (ACT and all College Board tests prohibit mechanical pencils) and a calculator if it is required.
What materials should my student NOT bring with them to a testing session?
They cannot have food or drink. ALL Electronic equipment is also prohibited - this includes cell phones, iPods, iPads, mp3 players, tablets, e-readers, smart watches, anything that takes a picture or records video or audio. If they are found with any prohibited item on their person, they will be dismissed from the testing session and their test will not be scored. Additionally, a testing irregularity must be reported (to NCDPI for State Tests and to ACT or College Board if one of their tests).
